Every registered domain has a minimum of 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your domain name to the servers of a specific hosting company. This way, you've got both your website and your emails managed by the exact same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are a number of other records, for instance A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the site for a given domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one indicates which server deals with the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you type a domain in your browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means that you can have your site and your emails with 2 different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a cloud web hosting account through our company and you would like to switch either your website or your e-mails to another company, it's going to take you literally simply two clicks to do this. Our Hepsia Control Panel offers an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domains and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you are going to be able to see and change the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you choose to use a different email provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the standard two, it will not take more than a few clicks either to add them. Also you can set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a certain MX record is going to have. The propagation of every record that you change or set up will not take more than several hours and if necessary, you'll also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that indicates how long a record will remain active after it's changed or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for any one of your domains or subdomains is extremely easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are maintained via our in-house built Hepsia CP, which has a section committed to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you could click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as simple as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you will not encounter any difficulties if you choose to direct your website or emails to some other service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you may also create additional MX records and set a specific priority depending on the recommendations of the new provider.
